Ian Friday brings it...AGAIN

Wow! Been a while since I have posted. Things have been uber productive on this end and I am getting ready for the Winter Music Conference. I will have a post about what parties are gonna be hot depending on what days you go. BIG UPS to ALL the dancers who came out and showed what a party is all about: DANCING! BUMP standing around looking cute. There was a battle going on next door and some of the dancers came from there to Tambor. Big ups to Stan Zeff, BE and the Tambor crew. We had fun. HOUSE DANCERS OF ATLANTA truly showed out. I am thankful for meeting each and every single one of you. We kick ass! Alright, now onto pictures:



HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, CULLEN COLE!! Celebrating his bday at Adult Skate. Was bummed I missed Kai's set. However, Kemit and Cullen kept all grooving for the rest of the evening. Big ups, gentlemen!

House Xpressions is back!

Oh so great to have dancers back onto some wood! I eat, breathe and sleep dancing and if you have a problem with it, you MIGHT want to reconsider being cool with me or even coming out to these dance sessions, PERIOD! So thankful for people who show Love from all walks of Life and different dance styles. One woman from Germany came and brought her son with her. We need the youth involved! Let's stop hogging music and dance as if it is ours and share it to all. At the same time, however, DANCERS are a must! Having a community is one thing, but having DANCERS represent it sets it to a another level. Peep us from our session the other night.

Ben Westbeech and Adult Skate

My weekend was filled with goodness! Brownswood Recordings own, Ben Westbeech came into town. To say the least, it was entertaining and filled with gems that I have not heard in a while. The last time I saw this dude was at Southport Weekender in England FOUR YEARS AGO! Talk about epic! Great to see familiar faces that night as well. Onto the pictures. Karl Injex opened up with a funky set to get the vibe poppin'! Let's go!

On Sunday night, I had the amazing pleasure of hearing three of the DOPEST DJ's I have heard in a long time. My dudes: Cullen Cole, Kai Alce and Kemit. It gave me such nostalgia that I woke up the next day in tears of joy. I appreciate you all for always showing me Love and embracing me within this scene. You were NEVER about the glitz and glamour NOR judged people that some DJ's are on nowadays. Raw, deep and a Dancers' delight to say the least. When 'How Deep Is Your Love' came on, I fucking lost it! Thanks Brian Scarlett for the suggestion because goodness knows my night was on another high when that track dropped. The reason why I support this event is because NUCLEUS of heads who started the underground/late nightlife for me were out and in full force. There were people ACTUALLY dancing! Cannot get any better than that. Enjoy and LOVE!

House Xpressions

Yes! A New Year calls for new beginnings. House Dancers of Atlanta is back in full force! I am too excited with this venture, to say the least. Last night was spectacular! Big ups to the owners of Soul Asylum Studios, Atlanta for letting us use their space and giving us the opportunity to express who we are.

The Underground Dance Movement has always been here and it is going NOWHERE! Fuck what you heard in these videos that have dancers 'dancing' to 'House Music'. Half of those people never experienced a TRUE dance session in the streets or in a club. Nonetheless, peep the video in which all of us get down. There needs to be a platform for Dancers in Atlanta who are of House Music. We will start as a monthly and eventually grow. It is bound to happen. Come as you are. You do not need any training. The music guides you and at the end of the evening, you meet like-minded peoples!

Holiday Goodness

Another weekend to put down in the books! Big ups to the Toronto ladies: Brigette and Sophia. You ladies rock my World. Also much Love to my fellow dancer, Sabine Blaizin! She did her thing on the decks this past Sunday. Much Love goes out to Lorin Vincent AKA Saturna! It was like one small WMC reunion this weekend. Wait, did someone say Rick Wilhite was in the building this weekend at Tambor? Wow, everyone was out and showed so much Love. Nonetheless, this was one of many highlights this weekend for me. I had such a blast! Big ups to the Tambor Crew and my brother, Zepherin Saint. He did that.

Sunday was the icing on the cake for all music lovers! First stop: Cafe Circa for Salah Ananse's Holiday soiree! MissKai and Sabine blessed the decks and I was oh so sad to miss both Salah's set and MissKai's set. She played this song and I missed it:




Ocha Mzani's own, Sabine Blaizin got the decks and it was so worth it. Mind you, I came STRAIGHT FROM WORK TO get on down. Afterwards, the party carried on to MJQ. Cullen Cole, Kai Alce and Salah Ananse jammed the decks that eve. When Kai played 'When You Touch Me', I lost it. I explained to him that not everyone can play that track. Makes a woman all hot and bothered *laughs*. I did not take much pictures due the fact that the music was banging and that I was on the floor in sync with people. Alright, photo time!

Yes! It is that time again. Damn this year flew by fast. I am thankful for the opportunities of meeting some of the people that inspire me in this music scene. Many thanks to Josh Milan and Osunlade. I dunno if any of you realize, BUT because of these beings, I am able to express myself in dance through how they vibe on tracks. Not many can alter my mood in such a positive way except these two.
